The clash of the unbeatens unfolds on Tuesday in girls’ soccer as United hits the road to play Eagle Pass at the Eagle Pass ISD SAC Stadium at 7 p.m.

United (1-0) is coming off a victory over United South in the district opener, and the Lady Longhorns are hoping to add win No. 2 when they face Eagle Pass. The Lady Longhorns beat United South 1-0 behind a goal from Kimberly Paredes.

Eagle Pass (1-0) was also successful in its district opener taking down LBJ 2-1 on Saturday at Kruger Field. The Lady Wolves’ lone goal came from Khatalina Martinez.

“It is always hard going to Eagle Pass and playing them at their home, even more so with them coming of a victory against LBJ,” United head coach Jerry Vera said. “We will have to be consistent on our plays and try to control the ball on the ground. If we can reduce their defenders from sending those long balls over our defense, our offense should be able to transition fast and get the counter attacks going. Overall, if we control the ball on the ground we should be able to break through their defense and come up with a victory.”

United South (0-1) is attempting to rebound from Saturday’s loss to United. The Lady Panthers played solid defense and were going toe-to-toe with United for the first half. It was not until the second half when United pounced on a United South miscue on defense, booted a goal in and held on for the victory.

USHS was scheduled to play Nixon on Wednesday but the game was canceled. Now the Lady Panthers have their eyes set on Alexander on Saturday at the SAC at 12:30 p.m.

Alexander does not get on the pitch until Saturday when the Lady Bulldogs open their quest for a district title against United South.

“We are excited to finally get our season underway after much anticipation,” Alexander head coach Erika Alcaraz said. “We look forward to a competitive game against South as it will be our first game of district and second for them. We have been practicing hard these last few weeks, and we feel strong and ready to take on our district opponents.”

LBJ (0-1) was scheduled to take on Del Rio on the road, but the game has been rescheduled due to COVID-19 protocols.
