Stark commissioners allocate K to entice airways back to CAK

CANTON  Stark County commissioners are location aside $50,000 that could be utilized to entice an airline to start or restore non-stop provider to Akron-Canton Airport.

The revenue, which will be overseen by the Stark Improvement Board, is in addition to at minimum $200,000 committed by other nearby entities last Oct. Commissioners authorized the funding Wednesday.

Akron-Canton Airport President and CEO Ren Camacho said no new settlement with an airline is imminent. But he expects that a method operate by JobsOhio, the state’s financial enhancement entity, would supply a 4-to-1 match for any locally lifted money.

He claimed he and other supporters of the airport’s Business Air Service Restoration Program are trying to get to line up the funding commitments now so they are prepared when an airline feels circumstances have sufficiently improved to return or start off a new route.
