Ian’s Tech Travels: My Fintech Forum is back!

The Citywire Fintech Forum is back, and on 28 January we will reconvene for another afternoon of tech mastery. You do not need to be a tech expert to join this one. Instead, we will be looking at the outlook for technology in 2021 and how we can practically apply it to the UK wealth and advice markets.

Register for the Citywire Fintech Forum here.

For this Fintech Forum we welcome back Moneyinfo and Seccl. Moneyinfo managing director Tessa Lee will get us started with an explanation of why 2021 will be the year that adviser technology leaves the back office. This session will focus on the importance of effective, versatile and secure online communication, in conversations with both clients and members of your team.

We are also going to look at disruption in the platform market, and for this we welcome Sam Handfield-Jones, co-head of Seccl. In this presentation, Handfield-Jones is going to discuss how firms can benefit from re-evaluating their approach to platforms, in a way that can improve the customer experience, lower costs, and drive efficiencies.

Finally, we look forward to finishing the event with a fireside chat with Paul Miles, principal of Silverback Consultancy. Seeing as we discussed tech philosophy in our previous Fintech Forum, this time around we are going to look at practical uses of technology for advisers and wealth managers, and consider what the tech revolution really means for our industry.

Miles is an expert in this respect and has been helping advice and wealth firms to thrive through using technology since founding Silverback Consultancy in 2015. He has a keen interest in back office software, platforms, and centralised investment propositions, and will explain what can be done to offer a service fit for the digital age.

As ever, the aim of the Fintech Forum is to offer useful thoughts and ideas on how to improve the work that you do for clients and to place a focus on running a better business and offering a superior service for clients. Whether you are a tech whizz or have just realised that technology warrants a greater focus, there should be plenty that you can apply to your proposition.

It is also a great moment to be thinking about technology. The lockdown has accelerated tech adoption and changed the methods, tools and culture of how we work. This will surely continue in 2021, and we will offer some thoughts on how it will happen when we meet on 28 January.
