How to access Staten Island vaccine hubs via mass transit
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — With nearly 5 million New York City residents now eligible for the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine, Staten Islanders are flocking to the borough’s vaccination hubs.
As of Monday, residents in Phase 1b of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s vaccination schedule — which includes first responders, education workers, public transit workers, public safety workers and residents aged 75 and older — can now get vaccinated in New York.
While these groups are now eligible to receive the vaccine, it’s important to note that those in Phase 1a — health-care workers and residents of long-term care facilities — will continue to receive priority.
To help city residents find their nearest vaccination hub, the city launched a website, NYC Vaccine Finder, which currently lists 13 Staten Island locations taking reservations for coronavirus vaccinations.
While many Staten Islanders will likely drive themselves to and from their vaccination hub, not all members of the community share that same luxury.
Thankfully, the vaccination hubs are easily accessible by mass transit, with each location serviced by a local MTA bus route and some in close proximity to Staten Island Railway stations.
Here’s a look at Staten Island’s 13 vaccination hubs and how to access them via mass transit.
