A minimal aid from my friends | Life

In June 1967, the Beatles launched a revolutionary album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The album remained variety just one in the US for 15 weeks. One particular of my preferred singles from the album is entitled, “With a Small Help from My Mates.” As a younger teenager, the song reminded me that I necessary very good good friends to help me on my existence journey. Sturdy mates who considered the way I did. Delicate buddies who could see my demands and react. The song also challenged me to be a mate of intent and consolation.

The tale of Moses, Joshua, Aaron and Hur in Exodus 17 also reveals the wisdom of friendship and the importance of friends when we go by way of battles.

Moses was a terrific leader, and everyone knew he had the ear of God.  But in this passage we evidently see the require and value of his good friends in this battle. Aaron and Hur were being not only mates but observant buddies. When they realized he was in require they observed a stone for Moses to sit on. They did not wait for him to inquire for aid!  They every single held up his palms and provided the steadiness for victory.  Joshua was in the valley with his soldiers preventing the Amalekites in hand to hand battle. In the new testament this picture is repeated in Romans 8:34 NLT, “Who then will condemn us? No a person — for Christ Jesus died for us and was elevated to lifestyle for us, and he is sitting down in the location of honor at God’s suitable hand, pleading for us.” Jesus Christ is our “friend” in heaven. Whilst we are like Joshua, fighting battles on this earth, so is Jesus Christ like Moses, on the heavenly mountain interceding for us to prevail.  

I can don’t forget as a kid listening to the hymn, “What a Good friend We Have in Jesus.” I was amazed at the strategy of being pals with God.  I did not comprehend the strategy of intercession and support during a crisis that could be delivered by a risen Savior. How sweet to “get by with a little assist from my good friend.”

So, in this analogy, who are the new testomony Aaron and Hur? They are our earthly good friends who agree with us and the strategy of God for our lifestyle. Close friends who stroll in tandem with us throughout the struggle, agreeing with God’s term and offering ease and comfort.
